Kageyama’s fists clench, his irritation at the callousness of your relatives making his blood boil. He understands familiar expectations, especially at family functions and definitely sympathizes with your frustration.
“I’ll be right there,” he affirms, charging out of his house. He runs the entire way to yours, arriving panting on your threshold. Just as he’s about to knock, he thinks better of it, skirting around to your bedroom window and tapping on the glass, relieved when your face appears.
You open the window and he climbs in, taking you into his arms. “I’m here, it’s ok,” he soothes, rubbing the back of your head. “Let’s turn off the lights and go to sleep, you’ve been through enough tonight.”
He guides you to your bed, allowing you to get comfortable before he turns off the lights and climbs in next to you. Gathering you to his chest he murmurs against the crown of your head, “I know it probably doesn’t feel like it, but, Happy New Year.”
You smile despite your sadness, leaning up to kiss him gently. “Happy new year, Tobio-kun.”
