I AM SO SORRY IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO ANSWER THIS. And I’m also going to apologize because I can’t find the original post for the life of me and I don’t even know why. I’ve scoured my archives like crazy and am about ready to pull my hair out!
Anyway, I DO remember how everything played out, so I’ll write the sequel and immediately link the OP as soon as I find it. To clarify, It was three parts – the first being Oikawa dating Iwaizumi’s sister, the second Ushijima dating Oikawa’s, and the third Kuroo dating Akaashi’s – that didn’t exactly have a happy ending, but more one of the prospect of the brother’s trying to be okay with the dating situations. And I’ll be jumping in from there!
I hope you enjoy, Anon!
Iwaizumi stared at the couple from across the courtyard, his sister leaving no space between herself and Oikawa as the boy leaned to whisper something that brought a bright smile to her face. Iwaizumi felt his brows furrow as he stared harder, attempting to read the words coming from his friend’s lips despite not being able to hear them.
It had been nearly two months since he had discovered the relationship status of his younger sister and his best friend. And while it was undoubtably hard to adjust to the knowledge, he felt as though he was handling everything relatively well. His temper was something he constantly felt as though he were keeping in check, but it was all for her sake. He could care less what Oikawa thought.
“If you glare long enough Oikawa might drop dead,” Hanamaki voice broke through Iwaizumi’s thoughts, bringing the very glare upon himself. But the boy grinned back, elbow nudging into Matsukawa’s side. “He’s on a killer rampage!”
“Shut up,” Iwaizumi growled, gaze dropping to his bento but not finding anything appetizing to eat there.
“Hey,” it was Matsukawa this time, bringing Iwaizmi’s eyes back up, “try not being so mad all the time. She’s happy, he’s happy. You’re anger about it is throwing off the team. Maybe try actually being a supportive friend and brother instead of pretending to me.”
“Or continue trying to kill Oikawa with your gaze. I think you almost had his this time.”
Oikawa gave a small groan, his gaze shifting back to his sister with the brut that was Ushijima. The emotions that usually surfaced when he saw the Shiratorizawa captain were only amplified when he saw him with his sister, but he had practiced the art of holding his tongue for her sake. Only for her sake, never for his,
“Fine,” he uttered to Iwaizumi, “I’ll try being ‘friendly’”
Standing to his feet, Oikawa plastered a smile to his features before walking the short distance that resided between him and them. Giving them a bright greeting, he moved to press himself directly in-between the couple. Ignoring the annoyed gaze that his sister immediately placed upon him, his gaze shot over to Ushijima, the large man now with his hands folded in his lap instead of intertwined with his sisters.
“Perhaps we should do something?” Oikawa offered, making himself more comfortable in the tight space between them, attempting to create more space. “There’s that new space odyssey movie that’s come out. What do you say, Ushiwaka?”
“I–” Ushijima paused for a moment, his gaze shifting to her across from him and Oikawa could see her shaking her head from the corner of his eyes, “–it’s [First Name]’s decision.”
“Tooru–” when his gaze shifted over to his sister, he hoped that he looked sincere, because he wanted to be. If this was the man that she was choosing, than he wanted to be supportive of her, even if it wasn’t a decision he would have trouble accepting “–how about ice cream?”
Kuroo had offered to pay for the treats, something him and Akaashi bickered about for perhaps too long before she had stepped in. The moments between were quiet as they found a small round table to rest at and Akaashi immediately realized the full impact of his initial outburst over this situation. He watched the conscious distance placed between them and how they shared small glances before staring down at the table before them.
He had made them feel as though everything that they were doing was bad – taboo even – he had created an awkward wedge within their relationship and if they failed, he know it would have been because of him at this rate. That was the last thing he wanted, even if he didn’t one hundred percent support this, he couldn’t live with the knowledge that they would each blame them for the end of something that could’ve been beautiful.
Clearing his throat, Akaashi met with each of their gazes before speaking. “I’m sorry for my behavior,” he heard the way his voice wobbled slightly and he tried to correct it, but he wasn’t sure how. He wasn’t sure how this apology was supposed to even go. “I shouldn’t have reacted to terribly nor continued to hold a grudge.”
“Keiji…”
“I don’t want you to feel as though you should pretend to be something you’re not because of me,” he gave a kind smile to his sister, “I want you to be happy.”
Kuroo smiled in return when Akaashi’s gaze met with his. Hand reaching for hers, he leaned to press a kiss to her cheek and Akaashi was only slightly surprised by his lack of tension in his shoulders at the action. “Thanks, Akaashi,” Kuroo spoke then, “and would it be a bad time to tell you we’re having a shotgun wedding?”
Akaashi’s smile dropped. “Excuse you?”
“I’m kidding!”
Kuroo!! Smart ass just has to ruin it doesn’t he 😂. Great job as always!!
