Sentence #8: “You’re lucky you’re cute because your taste in music is awful”
Tendou falls on his face on the bed, letting out a long satisfied sigh. It’s 2:00 AM, his ears are ringing and he should have taken off his clothes before succumbing to the temptation of lying down for “just a minute”.
“You get eyeliner on that comforter and I’ll kill you.”
Tendou snorts but forces himself to roll to his back, head dipping over the edge of the bed turning the whole world—and Suga—upsidedown; which is fitting, seeing as the silver-haired male has turned his world topsy-turvy ever since the day they toppled into each other on the ice rink.
What a way to meet your boyfriend.
Suga’s trying to scowl but it’s hard when Tendou has that dopey smile on his face. He rolls his eyes instead, huffing, “You’re lucky you’re cute because your taste in music is awful.”
Tendou merely sticks out his tongue, blood still rushing to his head; “Don’t give me that, I saw those sexy hips shaking to the beat.”
Suga doesn’t protest further, telling himself he’s too tired to bother. “Come on!” He claps his hands, then tugs on Tendou’s wrist; “Shower before bed, you stink.”
“Sugaaaa,” Tendou whines, “I’m too tired.”
Suga cocks an eyebrow; “You plan on sleeping in those skin-tight leather pants? Be my guest, but don’t come crying to me when you have a rash on your junk and can’t fuck.”
“So mean,” Tendou whines again, softer this time, as he forces himself off the mattress.
“Less protest, more… just get ready for bed ya nutcase.”
“Is that your way of saying I drive you crazy?” Tendou teases, wincing as he rolls his pants off; they really do stick something fierce.
“Only in days ending in “Y,” Suga calls over the sound of the shower, “now get in here and pay me back for subjecting my ears to that nonsense!”
MatsuTen – First Kiss
The first touch of their lips was soft, so soft it was almost as though they were ghosts to each other, their nerves holding them back as though they were tethered.
Matsukawa nearly opened his eyes, wondering if Tendou were second guessing this; had he pushed too hard, moved too fast?
Then a hand was in his hair, tugging him forward and Tendou’s lips slotted more fully against his own, a low hum vibrating Matsukawa all the way to his toes; apparently he wasn’t moving fast enough.

He’s a heavy sleeper, so you like to cuddle him while he’s still snoozing some mornings. It’s his favorite way to be woken up too.
This is assuming however, that you don’t wake up to his long limbs strewn across the bed and over you. When that happens, you might just try to tickle him awake.
When you have weird dreams, he prods you to tell him about them. If the dream ends abruptly or you can’t remember, he’ll start making up the rest of them. His goal is mostly just to make you laugh. There’s something about the way your body rumbles against his during laughter that Tendou loves.
He likes to hum and tap his fingers along your back to the tune of whatever song he’s humming. Sometimes he gets really into it and starts a drum solo. Again, he does that part mostly for laughs.
Tanaka
This boy loves to cuddle. Underneath that punk exterior is the romantic, softy we always knew he was. He may or may not have cried tears of joy the first time you woke up together and you snuggled up against him.
He has to be the Big Spoon as a matter of pride, but he actually loves being the Little Spoon
However, being the Big Spoon means he gets to nuzzle his face into the nape of your neck, which he loves doing while cuddling, so he can’t pick which one is his favorite.
He likes to talk about his favorite memories with you while he’s still waking up fully. Most of your morning conversations begin with him saying, “Hey, remember that time when…”.
His morning voice is a bit raspy and husky, and boy, is it nice to listen to with him speaking sweetly and laughing in your ear.

Doesn’t go out of his way to mention his birthday ahead of time. He knows it’s silly, but part of him wants to see if anyone will actually remember his birthday without him telling them. (Spoilers: they do.)
Once it’s clear that no one has forgotten his birthday, though, he is very happy to be the center of attention for the day and takes full advantage of being the birthday boy. He’ll definitely be a shit about it, but his obvious excitement is so cute you really don’t mind.
Probably got extra drills assigned from Washijou on at least one occasion because he was trying to get out of doing drills on account of it being his birthday. He still insists it was worth a try.
Skip the cake and stick his birthday candles in a decked-out chocolate ice cream sundae. And no, hot fudge over chocolate ice cream is not too much, you’re just weak.
He loves parties. The bigger the better. The more eccentric and eclectic the decor and music choices, the better. The weirder the music… well, you get the idea.
Tendou isn’t a big eater, so he doesn’t much care what kinds of food there are. He does have lots of friends that eat a lot, though. So restaurant and izakaya outings are kind of wasted on him, unless you find a really cool place in Asakusa or something. He’s a bit of a grazer, though, so snack foods are always good.
Once he hits drinking age, watch out for him. The boy is a lightweight. He loves going out for his birthday–he’s all about the dancing–but if he tries for a second to keep up drink for drink with the absolute tanks he calls friends (lookin’ at you, Wakatoshi), he’s toast. He can be a very schmoopy drunk, so you’ll end up half-carrying him home while he waxes poetic about the mole on your cheek or who the heck knows what. Not that it’s entirely unenjoyable, but it definitely isn’t quite how you planned to spend your evening.
Speaking of dancing, though–if you keep him on the right side of schwasted, he can go all night long. He’s a surprisingly good dancer, too–you’d expect him to be all limbs, but he’s strangely smooth, and has a great sense of rhythm. It also gives him a free pass to hold you as close as he wants, which he loves.
He’s one of the easiest people ever to shop for–partially because he’s just going to love anything that you give him, but also because he has all manner of nerdy interests and a tendency to never shut up about them, so you can always fall back on those. Honestly, though, you can give him just about anything and he’ll love and treasure it.
After he’s all partied out, he just wants to cuddle up with you for an anime marathon on the couch. Some snacks, a soft blanket, one of his favorite shows, and you in his arms… what more could he want?

Kiss him silly. He can never get enough of kissing you and holding you close; it’s honestly one of his favorite activities. You’re definitely not arguing, either–he’s a pretty fantastic kisser. Practice makes perfect, after all, and he does kiss you a lot.
He’s generally up for almost anything you’re into, from the most vanilla to the wildly kinky. He just likes being with you, so he’s down for anything you want to try.
If you are in the mood to spice things up a bit, though, tie that boy up. He lives for it, and all the better to shower every inch of him in love–he’s one tall motherfucker, so it’ll take you a while, but it’s oh so worth it. He gets so worked up, and it’s absolutely beautiful. His cheeks flush until they almost match his hair, his back arches off the bed trying to chase any contact…. It’s a sight, and you can’t get enough.

He’s extremely vocal in bed. If you have roommates, arranging for them to be away for his birthday will make a great present. That way he can fully relax and let loose–and you can enjoy the full repertoire of sounds you can draw out of him. From whines and sweet moans to bafflingly creative curses, you love each and every one.
His dick is like him: long, thin, and a little wonky. You think it’s cute, though–especially the freckles on the side. It suits him perfectly. Oh, and yes, the carpet does match the drapes.
He has almost zero refractory period. Give him maybe five minutes and a quick drink and he’s good to go again.
If you really want him noisy, go down on him. Be ready to hold him still, because he’s a twitchy, squirming mess, but it’s a surefire way to have him screaming in no time.
He also loves experimenting with toys. There are just so many. You don’t mind at all–he’s so beautifully responsive, you’re happy to experiment with him.
He’s also super responsive to p-spot stimulation. He’s so sensitive it’s easy to have him downright sobbing in no time. When he gets overstimulated he goes almost strangely quiet–for him, at least. All he can manage are low whines and choked-off gasps.

Tendou Satori Analysis.
Tendou isn’t much of a complex character, but he is one of the most tridimensional characters in the Haikyuu universe.
What is a tridimensional character?
A tridimensional character is one who displays his vices and virtues, pros and cons, equally making him more humane than a caricature.
At first, Tendou is presented as a cheerful character and kind of a jokester. He might be a normal character but from the very start thanks to the way he talks and they he looks, you can tell there’s something odd with the character, something different from the other ones. This cheerful attitude I call it “The First Layer.”
Tendou has an “alter ego” that I would like to refer to it as “The Second Layer.”
Then, inside those two layers is the center of Tendou, who he really is.
I’ll break down each of them. And a small disclaimer: Just because I’m naming his personality traits layers doesn’t mean they are facades he puts on. I’m trying to explain the character from its most basic traits and getting deeper into the character, and this seemed the best way to lead the analysis.
FIRST LAYER,
His good side and I think one of the most important parts of this character.
He’s cheerful and teases his friends often. You can see that he unwraps perfectly among his peers, which is a surprising layer given the backstory he has. Tendou was insulted, if not bullied, when he was only a child. In middle school he wasn’t much bullied, but he still was told his ways were wrong.He wasn’t doing things like he was supposed to, and he didn’t look like he supposed to. People still rejected him.
This type of constant reminder can damage someone mentally and emotional in many ways, that’s when the second layers comes in but we’ll talk about it later in this post.
Still, at the same time this is why Tendo is able to open up in Shiratorizawa. In many instances in the anime we can see how opposite are the opinions of the people of his past against the ones Shiratorizawa has of him.
For instance:
In episode 7, season 3, one of the flashbacks we see, he is in middle school and the coach tells him to stop block-guessing. Tendou argues saying that his guess-block does work, why would he stop doing it?
The coach answers the same way everyone has answered him so far: “YOU’RE NOT GOING TO BE RIGHT ALL THE TIME” aka “YOU’RE WRONG.”
Later in the match vs Karasuno, in episode 8 Coach Washijou yells at him. “SATORI, STICK YOUR HANDS UP. I DON’T CARE IF YOUR GUESS ENDS UP WRONG, I PUT YOU IN THERE KNOWING DAMN WELL THAT MIGHT BE A POSSIBILITY.”
He’s practically telling Tendou. “You might be wrong but as long as you try to score, it’s okay.”
That’s why Tendou, even with his past, is so trusting and friendly with his team. It’s the first time in his life where he feels accepted.
Between those same episodes Semi says that only Tendou can talk so cheerfully to Ushiwaka. It is because he feels like he belongs. He feels comfortable with who he is and in its own skin for the very first time.
And specially, his alter ego, his second layer, is also well received.
SECOND LAYER
When we see Tendo’s childhood flashback, we see that he found out satisfaction in having power over the people who used to bully him. Volleyball gave him some confidence in himself, made him feel he had the upper hand in something.
For Tendo volleyball became the place where he could have the upper hand and he wasn’t afraid to retaliate. It became his safe heaven, and when his general “sadistic” persona was accepted, it was like a dream come true for him.
And even when he grows up and he has somehow managed to get over those past traumas, he’s still on edge when it comes to new people. He created that alter ego when he was young, and it would be too difficult for him to just stop being like that. He was too young and that small twinge of rejection will look back at him every time he sees his reflection, so he won’t stop.
This attitude is what makes Tendo so human to me. This ego was created cause of his fear, of his, probably, self-hatred. This is a mechanism he uses to protect himself. Being called the “guess monster” It’s both a blessing and a curse. In high school he became someone important for his school. He isn’t just a freak. He is Tendo The Guess Monster Satori. He is someone people recognize and respect. And he likes that power. But that power doesn’t define him… that power is the why volleyball started being his paradise as he stated.
When Karasuno wins, Satori says “Goodbye my paradise.” And then he tells Wakatoshi he will quit volleyball.
Here comes THE CENTER of Tendo Satori, who he really is:
When Tendo said “Goodbye my paradise” after they lost… was because he knew deep inside he wouldn’t find any place like Shiratorizawa again. He knows how the world outside of this paradise is, and he knows it isn’t pretty.
He dind’t play volleyball for the glory… He first played volleyball for power, because people finally respected him, at the end of high school Tendou kept playing because he felt like he belonged in that court with Ushiwaka, with Semi, with Reon… Shiratorizawa’s volleyball team was his safe heaven, not only volleyball. Volleyball granted him that home, but it stopped being all about volleyball and power. It was about the people who accepted him.
At the end you can see that Tendou is an insightful guy. He knows that now that he will graduate high school, he won’t be in that home anymore, and so volleyball isn’t worth it anymore. He tells Ushiwaka he will say how they were best friends because Tendo will always cherish that time of his life because it showed him how to openly be himself…
He’s someone who cares for other people. Not only a monster who you need to be afraid of, as he was in both primary and middle school. Tendo encourages his teammates and feels proud of them when they overcome their problems. When Shirabu got scolded by Washijo because he messed up the toss (the one when Tsukishima blocked Ushiwaka) he slapped himself, and after being surprised, Tendou smiles with a small chuckle…
Tendo is a soft, insightful boy who not only sees but to truly observes the world around him. He had gone to nationals at least once, he has seen what’s out there. And he knows there will be nothing like Shiratorizawa again, and he doesn’t want another Shiratorizawa.
He liked power because he didn’t like to be abused.
He’s human and he did what he had to do to protect himself.
But on the inside, Tendo is caring. Tendo only wanted to belong. Shiratorizawa thought him he wasn’t nearly as bad as he believed, because he isn’t. He is kind to others outside of the court. He knows volleyball is only a game. To lose wasn’t painful for him, what was truly painful was to know he was going to leave the team. There wasn’t going to be another time, but either way, his time was already coming to an end.
And by accepting that, it means he has come to terms with who he is, and he knows he will probably be fine out there.
He’s flawed, he has his ups and downs, and that makes him a complete character for me.

I haven’t written a lot for Tendo but your post definitely makes me want to try again because he is so multilateral (that’s what makes him a challenge to write at least for me because there is so much to who he is).

Daichi: He is 100% On It™ and is ready at the drop of a hat for anything you need. He wouldn’t be caught dead saying stuff like “it can’t be that bad” or anything of the sort–he knows he can’t (and shouldn’t) relate. He has your favorite snacks, a heating pad and other supplies, a favorite movie and comfy clothes on stand-by. He does give amazing tummy rubs and back rubs, plus he is a top-tier cuddle partner. Couldn’t ask for much better, to be honest.
Oikawa: Junk food. All of the junk food. You name it, he’s bought it for you. He makes damn sure you won’t want for anything. Honestly, though, you hardly need all the sugar with how sweet he’s being! He also has some top-tier shitty movies queued up on Netflix for the two of you to watch while you cuddle and binge on sweets (he bought them for you, but his sweet tooth is insatiable, so he definitely ‘helps’).
Kuroo: He’s also On It, but he can be such a shit sometimes. He just does it to make you feel better, to be honest. His teasing is always loving, he only steals snacks when he knows for sure you’re done with them, and he always makes up for making you mad with tummy rubs, store runs, and basically treating you like a queen until you feel better. His favorite form of comfort is a soothing bubble bath with a fancy bath bomb, a scented candle, soft music, and a shoulder rub. He doesn’t care about the blood–not when his baby is hurting–and after the bath he’ll sack out with you. Nap time is the best time when he’s your cuddle partner, after all.
Bokuto: He’s such a provider, but he’s a little bit extra? You want ice cream? Well, be prepared, because he doesn’t know what flavor you want, so he gets you 10. You want movies? Full-on Disney, Ghibli, and MCU marathon, depending on the mood. He just wants to be there for you and sometimes forgets how. He worries. But his warm hands are basically a built in heating pad, he gives the absolute best head massages, and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to make you comfortable. Sometimes literally, and not always for the better. He really does mean well…
Ushijima: Poor child, he tries, but he’s so confused. Do you need medical attention? Are you OK? You aren’t going to hit him, are you? He does have some supplies on hand (or he’s more than willing to go get some at the store, he doesn’t care) and will make sure you’re hydrated and fed and taken care of. In the end, all he can do is hold you and try his best, but really, his snuggles are pretty rad, and he’s more than willing to do anything you ask of him, so it’s pretty alright, all things considered.
Asahi: Sweet angel hates seeing you in pain at all. He gets mountains of snacks and supplies (he gets a bit flustered with the looks he gets when he’s in the feminine hygiene section, but he pulls through just fine) and settles in for a movie marathon. He likes to hold you anyway, and if you seem to relax a bit more when he cuddles you, then even better. He wishes he could do more for you, but he knows it’s temporary, and with monthly practice, he sort of becomes a pro at making you feel better.
Tendou: They say laughter is the best medicine, right? So maybe that logic doesn’t 100% hold true with cramps, but Tendou’s absurd anime marathon he’s prepared for you definitely gets points for distracting you from the pain (honestly, where does he even find this stuff?). He’s also super attentive, and once he’s been with you for a while he often knows what you need before you can even tell him. Heating pad? Check. Chocolate? Check. You name it, he has it covered.
I’ve been in a Psycho Pass AU mood and these all felt like they worked well with the scene that popped in my head. Who knows? Maybe I’ll get enough of these drabbles together to form a linked story. This is in the same universe as my Daichi one.
The slap of water sounded all around as Tendou and Yachi raced down the darkened alley, their quarry a soaked blob somehow getting smaller despite the pace at which they were running.
“You go that way, I’ll cut him off on the other side,” Tendou shouted.
Yachi didn’t have time to consider how she hadn’t been in the field more than fifteen minutes and had already broken an important rule: don’t let your enforcer give orders.
“They’re your subordinates, you call the shots.”
She winced against the words spoken to her not even an hour ago. How was she supposed to explain this? She shook her head, picking up her pace in the direction Tendou had pointed her. Her heart thundered against her chest, trepidation and – she was loathe to admit – excitement pulsing through her veins. The rain stung her eyes, her lungs and legs burned and the suction of her rain soaked suit all worked against her forward progression but she pressed on. She could deal with the repercussions of this later. What mattered was stopping the suspect and getting him to reveal his base. Her grip tightened on the dominator in her hands; it would be just her luck to drop the thing and add to her negative tally marks.
Losing sight of the suspect, she pushed herself harder, rounding a corner in the direction she hoped he’d taken only to cannon into something, her body sprawling onto the water logged asphalt. A hiss escaped her as the uneven ground scraped her skin raw before she landed with a heavy thud. When she applied pressure to her hand to push up she let out a gasp of pain but it was the voice beneath her that drew her eyes open to meet wide brown ones.
“Gah! Are…are you ok, Yacchan?” Hinata cried out, arms flailing since he wasn’t sure he should touch her.
“Well, this is awkward,” Tendou’s voice sounded from behind them. “And that,” he continued, pointing towards the tangled pair as more of their enclave made way to assist, “is why I wear trainers despite the suit.”
Hinata glared over Yachi’s shoulder. “Bite me, monster.”
She flinched at the sharp retort but the object of Hinata’s wrath merely pushed away from the wall and yanked her off him to her feet, a smirk on his face. “Now, now, inspector, you know we dogs aren’t even allowed to bark.” Though his words were directed to the still prone Hinata, his breath on her neck made Yachi shiver. She’d not been this close to an enforcer before and though she knew she shouldn’t be, she couldn’t help feeling nervous. He let her go as soon as her balance returned and she rotated to extend assistance to Hinata but Ukai-sensei was already dragging him to his feet.
“I’m too sober for this,” he grumbled around the cigarette hanging loosely between his lips, struggling to light it against the fall of rain.
He stepped under the cover of Tsukishima’s umbrella long enough to catch the flame against the stick of tobacco. The bespectacled inspector sent his fellow blonde a look of distaste before turning his attention to Tendou. “Where’s the suspect?”
Tendou, hands thrust in his coat pockets, nodded down another alley. “Doing an impression of modern art…or a Rorschach test. Personally all that red reminds me of Valentine’s day, but then again, I’ve always had a fucked up way of looking at things.”
Tsukishima grimaced, gritting his teeth. “We needed him alive you idiot! How else are we going to find the victim now?”
A shrug. “It was that or let him get away, figured it would be better not to give him a chance to grab who knows how many more.”
“Damn dog,” Tsukishima huffed, turning on his heel. “Let’s go, leave the clean up crew to take care of that mess while we work on the now infinitely more difficult task of finding his hideout.”
They all fell in line after him, the inspectors taking refuge in their cars while the enforcers returned to the back of their truck. With a sigh, Yachi allowed her head to fall against the headrest, eyes looking out the rain streaked window. How were they going to do this with their last lead a smatter of blood and guts? The thought turned her stomach and she wondered if she’d be able to handle seeing such a sight should the day come where she had to pull the trigger.
“You ok, little bird?” Ukai’s voice made her start, water droplets flinging against his shirt when her head whipped towards the direction of his voice.
Despite her pale face and trembling body, the little inspector nodded. “Just…tired. I guess I need to spend more time on the treadmill,” she replied, rubbing the back of her head with an uneasy smile on her face.
Ukai hummed but made no further push to get her to speak. In the loosely named driver’s seat, Tsukishima eyed the recent addition to his unit and shook his head to no one in particular. How she had been tapped to become an inspector was beyond his comprehension but then his was not to wonder why; it was to do or die.
I’m actually really proud of this piece and I hope people enjoy it.
