Imayoshi – #2 Snowed in
A whistle of wind sends a shiver up her spine as the lights flicker ominously. Winter certainly is in full force. Glancing out the window, her eyes widen as the snow dumps faster than the last time she lifted her eyes from the pages before her. A second shudder breeds goosebumps over her skin as her attention returns to the story.
Only for a yelp to erupt from her lips, her body catapulting out of the chair and onto the floor when the touch of frigid fingers presses on the back of her neck.
“Damn it, Shochi! What the hell?” she yells, angry eyes meeting his amused expression.
“Just lookin’ to warm up, sweetie,” he teases.
“Then run your hands under hot water!”
He chuckles, rubbing his hands together as he rounds the recliner. She eyes his extended appendage doubtfully but finally places her hand into his. At least it’s warmer now.
He draws her up easily, arm wrapping around her waist. It isn’t often he’s expressly affectionate, so cold hand prank or not, she decides to enjoy this lapse in typical behavior.
A deep rumble sounds around them, the storm’s intensity increasing. With a final flicker, the lights snuff out, leaving them embraced in the dark.
“So, seems we’ll be stuck here for a while,” he murmurs, breath hot against her ear. He removes the book from her hand, dropping it to the flood with a thud. “And no light, means no reading.” Lips press against her neck and she shudders for an entirely different reason. “I’ve heard body heat’s the best way to warm up, so let’s retire to the bedroom and let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.”
