Thank you for you input to help me get this formed, I really
hope you enjoy it!
“Daiki, are you ok?” you ask looking at the ace with concern
in your eyes as he walks in the door. You know all his expressions, even the
ones he thinks he hides well and you can see something significant happened
tonight. He chucks down his bag, walking past you without replying to his room,
shutting the door. You debate going to him, knowing when he’s like this it’s
usually best to just leave him be but you decided recently that this can’t go
on forever. You can’t keep allowing him to shut you out.
I can see every tear
you’ve cried
like an ocean in your
eyes
All the pain and the
scars have left you cold
Swallowing your nerves, you set the book you were reading
down on the couch and proceed to his room, knocking softly at the door. A
muffled grunt is all the reply you receive but you take it as permission to
enter and do so. He’s lying on his back in the darkness and you can’t tell from
this distance if his eyes are closed or if he’s staring at the ceiling. Either
way, he’s yet to acknowledge your presence.
“Daiki,” you begin softly, moving forward and shutting the
door, “Please, tell me what’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” he grumbles, turning on his side to face the
wall.
“Is it something with the team?” you ask ignoring his lie.
As he rolls over again to face you, your adjusted vision
catches a wince of pain shooting across his face. If you weren’t staring right
at him you would have missed it, it was so fleeting. But it’s there and you know
it can only mean one thing.
He opens his mouth but before he can excuse away his
behavior you ask, “It’s your leg isn’t it?”
Aomine stops cold, eyes narrowing in frustration and anger. “First
Satsuki, and now you, can’t you all just back the fuck off? Because of her I’m
benched for the Interhigh and I don’t need my girlfriend ganging up on me too!
I’m fine!”
“You’re not fine, Daiki, and I’m not just talking about your
damn leg!”
I can see all the
fears you face
through a storm that
never goes away
Don’t believe all the
lies that you’ve been told
He pauses, clearly surprised by your outburst because you never raise your voice to anyone, least
of all him. Taking a deep breath, you sit down on the bed and grab his hand.
You can tell he wants to jerk it away but you grip tighter, tears flooding your
eyes as you look at him.
“Daiki, when you are going to stop pushing everyone who
cares about you away? Can’t you see Momoi-san’s just trying to protect you? Don’t
you understand how much I care about you? Why won’t you let me in?”
I’ll be right here now
to hold you when the
sky falls down
I will always
be the One who took
your place
When the rain falls
I won’t let go
I’ll be right here
Daiki remains silent, eyes staring at the floor but he doesn’t
move. The silence drags on filling the room with added heaviness and you wish
he would at least look at you but you don’t want to push him any harder than
you already have. So instead of words, you choose actions, lying down with your
back to his front and snuggling backwards until you’re flush against him. He
tenses momentarily but then you feel his long arm wrap around your waist
tugging you even closer.
From behind, you hear him say, “Stay with me tonight.” You
nod, kicking off your house shoes and drawing up the covers to encase your
bodies. Daiki’s breath caresses your neck and you close your eyes, squeezing
his hand.
I will show you the
way back home
never leave you all
alone
I will stay until the
morning comes
I’ll show you how to
live again
and heal the
brokenness within
Let me love you when
you come undone
“It’s not the end of the world, Daiki. You have so much to
look forward to, just get out of your own head now and rest. That’s the best
thing you can do. And I’ll be here for as long as you want me,” you whisper
into the dark, unsure he’s even heard you given his even breathing and the slack
of his body.
But he squeezes your hand tightly, face burying deep into
the crook of your neck and hair as in a long exhale he says, “I want you
forever.”
When daybreak seems so
far away
reach for my hand
When hope and peace
begin to fray
still I will stand
When the rain falls I
won’t let go
I’ll be right here
