Oikawa: Oikawa is basically a spoiled cat–when he wants hugs, he wants them right now, and he doesn’t care where you are. He’s just really big on physical contact, so he’s usually either leaning on you, resting his chin on your head, or burying his face in your shoulder. If he’s got his arms around you, though, he’s humming. Always. You can’t help but smile at the happy little noises he makes. His biggest weakness, though? Hair touching. Touch his hair, kiss the top of his head, or stroke the back of his neck, and he will legitimately melt and it’s adorable.
Iwaizumi: His hugs are easily the most intense of anyone else on the team. He’s so strong, and he’s a big fan of tight, tight squeezes. He will legitimately purr if you run your hands over his arms while you hug him (and why wouldn’t you). You can feel every emotion he’s feeling through his hugs and how he holds you. He’ll bury his face in your hair or rest his chin on your shoulder if he’s feeling sleepy or upset. If he’s happy, though, he’s a big fan of the Disney Princess Lift-n-Spin–he can pick you up as if it’s nothing, and it’s absolutely magical.
Matsukawa: Seems like a calm hugger, right? He gives those perfect hugs with the perfect pressure with the perfect amount of contact. It’s perfect, and you just want to melt. Then, when you least expect it, he whispers a joke in your ear. Vegas odds on it being a terrible pun (and I mean capital letter TERRIBLE pun). Goddammit Mattsun. These get worse after he’s been hanging with Hanamaki. Somehow, though, this doesn’t ruin the mood; you love hearing him laugh, and you can bury your own giggle against his shoulder (you refuse to admit you’re laughing at a pun that bad).
Hanamaki: As bad as Mattsun can be, Makki is worse. He’s also heavy, and he takes advantage of this fact. He’s a flopper–like, he’ll legit just suddenly put all his weight on you out of the fucking blue and heaven help you if you can’t hold him up. When he’s being serious, though, his hugs are pretty great. He’ll deny it to his grave, but he coos when you squeeze him back. He’s also a bit of a nuzzler–into your chest, your neck, your shoulder… anything. He doesn’t know why he does it.
Yahaba: Not into hugs. He’s not a monster–if you need a hug, you’ll get one, but they’re always too light, too fast, and too tentative to be good hugs. He’s more into hand-holding than hugging–he finds the whole exchange awkward.
Watari: Great comfort hugger, overall. If you’re feeling down, he’s a shoulder to cry on. He’ll affectionately head-bonk you, trying to get a smile, or give you a tight squeeze if you’re feeling really down. He’s a giver, but he doesn’t over do it. He’ll never hug in public either–it makes him uncomfortable. He’s bigger on headrubs than hugs either way.
Kindaichi: He is so, so stiff at first. It will be awkward, and you might wonder if you are actually hugging a robot. Just be gentle with him though–once he relaxes, his hugs are super nice (if a bit intense). He’ll absentmindedly rub tiny circles against your back with his thumb; he probably doesn’t even notice he’s doing it, but you love it.
Kunimi: He’ll pretend he isn’t into hugs, but don’t believe it for a second. He just happens to be in the same room, and he just happens to want to sit right next to you, if that so happens to end in a hug then so be it. No he’s not feeling affectionate, shut up. Also, once he’s in a hug, he’s not getting up till he’s ready. RIP you, because he is the immovable object, and he hugs really tight. So get comfortable. But low key, he adores it. He craves physical affection, and he will actively seek it out. He just lies about it.
Kyoutani: Two hug settings–Worst Hug Ever and Best Hug Ever with zero in-between. It’s either too stiff and too awkward to really be a “hug” in the strictest sense of the word, or it’s the best hug in the world where you feel safe and so loved and so protected. But again, there is literally no in-between. He sighs a lot when he’s hugging. He’s not upset; it’s just his way of releasing tension.
Adorable!!!
