Is it alright if I indulge a bit and ask for a Blind Date? Thank you…⁄(⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄)⁄

Of course darling! I’m sorry this is so late!

This has got to be, by far, the strangest date you’ve ever been on.

“If you’ll take my hand, I’ll lead you to your table,” the hostess requests.

Swallowing your nerves, you do as asked, clasping what you’re sure is a rather sweaty palm in her own but if so, she doesn’t say anything. With a gentle smile, she leads into the completely pitch black room, the light on her headband the only source of guidance.

You reach your destination with no mishaps and settle into your seat.

“Your dinner companion will be arriving shortly, the meal has been prearranged, we hope you have a good time,” she says before leaving.

Bouncing your knee, you wait, a bit anxious but the murmur of voices around you starts to calm your nerves. You must be in a booth because while you can hear voices, you can’t determine the actual words of their conversations.

“Here you go sir.” The hostess’s voice makes you jump.

“Thank you,” a deep voice returns and you feel your heart rate pick up. He must be tall, slightly barrel chested you consider for his voice to be that low. Something tells you he’s handsome too.

“Good evening,” he offers across to you.

“Hi, I’m-”

“Ah, ah! No names yet,” he chuckles. “It heightens the anticipation, don’t you think?”

Momentarily unsure, you cock one eyebrow, huffing a nearly silent laugh when you realize he can’t see it. “Fine by me,” you finally supply.

As the meal is laid before you, simple finger foods you’re told by the waiter to avoid lawsuits involving forks and unfortunate accidental stabbings, you and your literally blind date go about the business of getting to know everything about one another aside from your names.

You speak of your love for writing and watching anime while he expounds on his basketball obsession.

“I play center,” he offers when you ask for more details.

“Oh, that’s cool! Maybe I can come see you play some time,” you say excitedly.

You can hear the smile in his voice when he replies, “I’m sure I’d like that very much.”

Eventually your meal is over and it’s time for the big reveal.

“Ready for the light?” he asks.

You nod, again forgetting he can’t see you, hastily adding, “Yes!”

There’s a click and you’re momentarily blinded but as your eyes adjust you take in a strong jaw, soft smile and gentle brown eyes. He has brown hair, slightly tousled but somehow neat.

“Hi,” he says, waving cutely. “I’m, Kiyoshi Teppei, it’s nice to officially meet you…”

“_______,” you say in an exhale.

You were right; he’s really handsome.
