Hello! You’re welcome! I really do adore this biker dorks, so it’s a lot of fun to connect with others who feel the same.
Ah, our dear Maki-chan! So once again, I struggle with head canons, I have no idea why they are so flipping hard for me so this is more him finally asking her out rather than they’re an established couple? I hope you like it.
- He sees her while out on a training ride in London serving drinks at her cafe job and decides what he needs to stave off the cold in his bones is a hot drink.
- While securing his bike, he observes she’s the only waitress because the place is super small. Perfect.
- Goes in to order and discovers she’s also the barista. When she asks what he’ll have he clumsily asks for her recommendation, cheeks burning as bright as the red streaks in his hair.
- Whatever she says, he orders, even if it’s something he’d normally not have.
- Takes a seat outside to try to calm down, running over and over in his head how to start some sort of conversation with her.
- Loses all his nerve when she places the cup down with a smile and a sweet, “I hope you enjoy it!”
- He does, though the taste is a little bittersweet since he missed his chance.
- Decides to go to the cafe every week, each time letting her pick his drink.
- They become friendly if not friends because Maki-chan just cannot think of how to continue a conversation beyond whatever drink she orders for him.
- He actually goes as far as to ask his brother for advice but when all it amounts to is “just ask her out stupid” he decides other resources are in order.
- Looks up ways to talk to women but is horrified by the cheesy or crude pick-up lines purported to “work like a charm”.
- One day, she asks him about his bike and he surprises himself by talking about it and a lot more related to it (such as his time at Sohoku) fairly easily. Things are going great until he blurts out, “Maybe you’d like to with me someday.”
- Cue flushed cheeks and backpedaling because did that really just come out of his mouth?
- The sound of giggling draws his consciousness from inner berating to confusion; why is she laughing?
- “I was hoping you’d ask me out, so I’ll take you up on your offer, even if it was a mistake,” she laughs.
- He beams at her, finally exchanging numbers before she has to get back to work.
- Texts her that night with plans to take her out after her shift the following week. When he asks where she’d like to go he smiles at her reply: Anywhere they don’t serve coffee
