Doubt and fear, two feelings Akashi is not accustomed to,
creep up from the pit of his stomach like monsters. He feels the pressure, the
constant beating against the door in his mind that holds back a beast he
instinctively knows is dangerous to release. But as Murasakibara continues to dominate
him, the draw to unbolt that door and fling it open becomes overwhelming. The
voice behind it tries for sweetness and ease, coaxing him to bend to its will
all while promising complete absolution of success for himself if he does.
Sweet dreams are made

“I told you I would crush you,” Mura says lowly, passing
Akashi again and sinking another basket. He’s inching closer to victory and
Akashi, already having lost so much and seeing more loss looming in the future,
unlocks the chamber of his inner demon.

Everyone gasps at the ease with which he puts down Murasakibara. In doing so, he cements
his position as captain and leader of this team once again. Akashi meets their
eyes, his own a reflection of the change within himself to something darker,
more sinister.

“Atsushi,” he says drawing the purple-haired giant’s
attention, “I don’t care if you no longer come to practice as long as you meet
your shot quota. Fail me and there will be consequences.”
Murasakibara nods, bewildered at this change in the demeanor
of his captain.
Akashi looks over the team, a smirk twitching the edges of
his lip. There’s no way they’ll leave him behind now. And any who want to
leave? Well, they’re welcome to sign the deed on the guarantee of their own
failures. Because his will…is absolute.
